Your First Visit to Our Clinic
You may not have been an an osteopath before, here is what you can expect at our clinic:
When you arrive for your first appointment at Reform & Renew Osteopathy in Frimley (near Camberley), you can expect a welcoming and professional environment where your comfort and individual needs are the priority. Your first visit typically lasts around 45 minutes to an hour, allowing the osteopath ample time to understand your concerns and gather a thorough case history.
Your practitioner will begin by listening carefully as you describe the symptoms you’re experiencing, when they began, how they affect your daily life, and any relevant medical history including lifestyle, medication, or past injuries. This conversation helps build a complete picture of your health and the factors contributing to your discomfort.
Next, a physical examination will be carried out. You may be asked to perform a few simple movements or stretches so your osteopath can observe your posture, mobility, and how different parts of your body move in relation to one another. To allow for a detailed assessment, you may need to remove or adjust clothing around the area being examined, privacy and your comfort are always respected throughout this process.
Using skilled hands and a developed sense of touch (palpation), your osteopath will assess the health of your joints, muscles, and connective tissues. After the assessment, they will explain their findings in clear terms, discuss whether osteopathy can help your condition, and outline a tailored treatment plan. This plan may include hands-on treatment, gentle manipulation, soft tissue techniques, and advice on self-care, exercises, or lifestyle adjustments to support your recovery and long-term wellness.
Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and gain clarity on what to expect next, whether that’s immediate treatment during the same visit or a schedule of follow-up appointments designed around your goals.
